Quintessential Quotations

“Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own common sense.”
— Buddha

“Do not believe anything because it is said by an authority, or if it is said to come from angels, or from Gods, or from an inspired source. Believe it only if you have explored it in your own heart and mind and body and found it to be true. Work out your own path, through diligence.”
— Gautama Buddha

“There are no passengers on spaceship earth. We’re all crew.”
— Marshall McLuhan

“I’ve wrestled with reality for thirty-five years doctor,
and I’m happy to state that I’ve finally won out over it.”

— Elwood P. Dowd, “Harvey” Universal Pictures, 1950

“Success:  To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.  This is to have succeeded!” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Life is eternal, and Love is immortal, and death is only a horizon, and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.”— Rossiter Worthington Raymond, 1840-1918

I am at the beginning of the moment that is the rest of my life. So I choose how I respond to the next thing and am grateful for all my experiences no matter what, as they have passed away after gifting me with their wisdom and insights into the richness of my life.
